Preparing for the Future

In Years 7 and 8, our senior pupils take on leadership roles across the school.

From House Captains to Sports Leaders, we help the children develop responsibility, confidence and character.

Through the Pre Senior Baccalaureate, they are tasked with coming up with a question they feel truly passionate about and investigating it thoroughly. Pupils have explored a huge range of topics, from looking at the history of tea to the circular economy and celiac disease.

After they have completed their research, they present their topic and their findings to their families and peers. They are graded not on the outcome (their presentation), but on the way they have worked through the entire project and how they have reflected on that process.

Our tailored approach to senior school preparation ensures each pupil is supported through their next steps. Whether applying to day or boarding schools, selective or all-through, we work closely with families to secure the best possible outcomes.

We see these years as pivotal points in our pupils’ lives. Pupils at traditional prep schools like West Hill Park have the opportunity to navigate these years as senior members of the school community, building their confidence, leadership skills and gaining a sense of self that will serve them well at their senior schools! They are celebrated during this time, culminating in our leavers experience at the end of Year 8.
